From a broken WordPress install to a gallery that sells.
A wood-art studio whose WordPress site was accidentally overwritten with a plumbing company's template. I rescued the photos, rebuilt it as a fast gallery site, and added a commission form.

Oak ’n Koa makes topographical maps, carvings and signs from Hawaiian woods. In 2026 the studio's WordPress site was accidentally overwritten with a plumbing company's template, and the portfolio disappeared with it.
I pulled 256 photos out of the old install, sorted them, and rebuilt the site as a static gallery of 142 pieces. The highest-value work moved to the front. A commission form now asks what kind of piece you want, so every inquiry arrives ready to quote. Hosting went from a paid plan to free.
What I found
- The whole site replaced by a plumbing template, so search results led to the wrong business
- Before that, a portfolio that pointed visitors to Instagram for photos
- No prices, no process, and no way to start a commission from the site
- Paid shared hosting for a site that never needed a server
What I changed
- 142 pieces in a gallery that loads fast on a phone
- A commission page with a four-step process and a form that asks the right questions
- Old addresses redirected so existing links and search results still land
- Static hosting on Netlify: no plugins to update, nothing to hack, $0 a month
What happened next
Live since August 27, 2026. The studio's best work is the first thing visitors see, and commission inquiries now come in through the site with the details needed to quote.
